We live in a world which is in a constant evolution with plenty of changes. These processes happen at such a speed and involve us in a way that we hardly realize it.
What happens to flamenco – to art, but especially to flamenco dancing – is a good example of this. Last generation´s flamenco dancing has acquired its knowledge from many sources and it is constantly related to other artistic creations. If we add the high technical level that its choreographers and executers have reached, we cannot but recognize and admire its capacity of renovation, the variety of its registers, and the unmanageable richness of its creations.
“In my artistic career I have always searched for an approximation to flamenco dancing with my feet established on the received inheritance – from Jerez, from the great masters that they have been and still are – but, at the same time, with my heart and soul willing to find my own style, a contemporary way of expressing flamenco: the way that belongs to me, as the artist and 21st century woman that I am.
From these personal perspectives comes Perspectivas: with a passionate and heartfelt investigation about my roots and my artistic evolution; as a Challenger to keep on being me and, however, to dare to explore the one I am not yet; with the conviction that only being able to get out on myself I can fully find the one I really want to be.
My new show is a travel through the time of my creative activity – my roots, my preceding explorations, my new horizons -, an anachrony where supposed different dancing and musical forms and manners coexist, but when they can be seen acting together – I have checked it by myself -, we realize that these conflicting ways of dancing are not but diverse looks on a unique, huge reality, unstoppable in its evolution: the flamenco art.
They are not but Perspectivas: to dance as I have always had, and as I had never had.”
